I love the farmers market. Everything looks so much fresher and better there. Things are picked ripe because they don't have to be shipped anywhere. However, I have to disagree on the saving money thing. Usually the farmer's market (at least the ones I've been to) are quite a bit more expensive. The quality is much better but a strictly per pound cost is usually much higher.
